I am endorsing sprite...I hope I signed the deal right!
Oh I forgot to play like a champ,
As soon as I started walking the ramp.
I endorse almost everything,
And have forgotten that playing was my thing.
Why the hell will I care about my game,
As long as I rake in money and fame!
Almost every prominent indian sports person seem to be following the above as his/her motto. Our latest Indian Tennis Sensation or should I say Ms Not-So-Funny-Words-On-Tee-Shirt (She actually seems to be thinking that its funny to wear them, poor gal does not realise that its not funny!) is not an exception. The number of commercials she is featured in is slowly increasing in numbers. It is being said that her modelling charges among the sportspersons, are second only to Sachin's. I am sure that she would outnumber the little master, Dhoni and lot others very soon...
She was seen wearing a T-shirt wearing the legend "Well-behaved women rarely make history" at Wimbledon and "You can either agree with me, or be wrong"at the US Open!
Hmm...perhaps she should wear t-shirts with the following possible legends:-
"Wanna endorse something? Contact me!", "Want me to play? Then you better pay!", "Playing is not my thing anymore!", "Career ahead! Tennis -> Ads -> Tollywood -> Bollywood!".
She is featured in the latest Sprite Ad...

she's hot u know.
kyon bhali ladki par baras rahi ho? Kya haal hain?
good one :-)...but i cant accept anything against Sania :P
And our madam has gone to Andhra CM, Rajasekara Reddy asking for allotment of land to start a Tennis Academy. He refused her request and asked her to concentrate on her game. Serves her right don’t you think? J Apparently, she has already been given more than one crore rupees, bungalow and other facilities by the government. Having made so many allowances the CM is definitely not pleased with her world ranking slipping to 70.
well, Anna Kournikova made more money thro modellin than wat she ever made in her tennis career!! it was the same with Gabriela Sabatini!! maybe Sania is followin suit!!
She has put India's name in the woman's tennis world. In the past, she has cracked the top 35 in the world rankings. She has reached the 4th round of US open. She has achieved way more than any woman, in tennis, in India. She has inspired a whole lot of other women players in India to take a sport as a profession. She has given them the confidence that it is possible for a woman to do well in a male dominated country like India. Isn't it enough? I think, she has done her part. What more do u want her to do? To win a grand slam? Ha.. Ha... Ha... Don't we all know better that she ain't got that potential? Come on... Let her earn some money. Let her settle down in life. Above all, let us leave her alone for sometime.
The bigger question is, is she going to be a model or a sportwoman?
The average person in India is not going to be amused by the fact that her world ranking is only slipping.. she is not exactly famous and well known, outside India... but she may care a damn about it, since what matters at the end of the age (when you r on the wrong side of the 40s) is not world rankings or titles or trophies but the size of the wallet.
Sad Indeed.
But seriously whats wrong?
Jealous?
Anonymous,
Point noted :)
ramki,
Well said!
deepa,
there's nothing wrong its just that she irritates by featuring in majority of ads next to AB Sr, and Indian Cricket Team :)
rajesh,
What? Jealous of Sania Mirza? Are you nuts? :)
Had you said I am jealous of Kiran Mazhumdhar Shaw or Indra Nooyi, I would have agreed :)
Madame Sania wants to open an Academy to train others. This sounds more like a business plan than any social work. Trying to act nice using public money.
Firstly, she has to improve her records. Just because no other indian women in tennis has excelled does not give her the license to stop at 32. She has made enuf money already, now she should focus on the game or it will be another talent wasted. All her followers will use the same gameplan. Play hard enough to become famous. Seems like Anna K is their role model
