Periyar and Item Number
For Pete's sake why does a movie on Periyar need an item number? I dont know nor do care a damn about Periyar's life. That guy was a racist and a brahmin hater. All he did was talk ill about this sect and condemned the various customs and rituals. Anyways this post is not about him or his life...
One gets to read in papers that our kodai vallal CM M Karunanidhi has granted 95 lakhs towards the making of the movie.(Ask this self-proclaimed atheist to shelve out an equal amount on making a movie on Rajaji...he wont...)Ofcourse this is just a very negligible portion of his just started loot of the Government Treasury this term. They seem to have roped in Sathyaraj (haven't you got any other better actor???) and Ragasya (the lass who shook her leg in the song cheena thaana in Vasool Raja MBBS) for the movie. What has an item number got to do with a Periyar movie? I am sure this will be a kuththu song featuring Periyar oops Sathyaraj and Ragasya...
How I wish the song would be on the following lines...
"Tamil Nattai Kedudhadhu Periyaarum dhaane doi! Tamil makkalin otrummaiyai udaithadhu periyar dhaane doi!!"
(if you have heard or seen the cheena dhaana song, you would understand the above !)

afaik periyar went to see a dasi/pros or something like that and ragasya performs the role of that dasi. i think there couldnt be any better actor than sathyaraj to play that role. not only is he a good actor but he is also an ardent of periyar and his philosophy.
but what i dont understand is how can the CM use public funds to sponsor a movie on a person that he adores. Tomorrow, if i become a CM and donate 1cr to Brad Pitt to make a movie based on Atlas Shrugged will the ppl of tamil nadu be silent?
I dont have any problems with Periyar, the philosopher for hating brahmins. But Im certainly unhappy with MK, the CM for being biased towards a sect of the society.

Good guess on the story plot...:) You are absolutely right. If all politicians resort to use funds 2 make movies of his/her choice, unveil statues at crucial road junctions, then our govt treasury would be depleted of funds very soon...Ofcourse MK has a distinction of emptying the treasury. Its his trademark...Very soon money circulation would stop in TN.
Sathyaraj used to be a good actor not anymore. He and his son are noise pollution cases...
