Bookless in Baghdad...

I have been reading Shashi Taroor's
Bookless in Baghdad
for sometime now. I remember reading his columns in the hindu but never realised that Taroor was the Under Secretary General of United Nations until few months ago. I guess I am bad in remembering profiles of good authors...

I wanted to let you know that his writing is good and you should try reading some of them in your free time.

Try visiting this site to get a feel of his writing

I am not sure about it... It is easy to become a under secretary especially from India (since nobody takes India seriously in international politics). But it is totally different to become a Sec. Gen. since it involves lot of politics. Political opinion of that country and to some extent that person matters (like whether you will support war on iraq). especially now when India and others want permanent representatives.. and luckily even if India gets that option, it will be Sonia Gandhi and not him.. :-).

The congress goons would like Sonia to be Sec. Gen (if India gets that option) because they might think Sonia Gandhi is the true indian and she is @$%&#(.....

just a joke..

one more view point, even if it is given to India, India may not take it because it might affect our chances of getting a permanent seat.
