Pachchai Kili Copy Charam...

There's been a lot of hype about the new Sarath-Jo starrer "Pachchai Kili Muthu Charam". Well, I agree there are good reasons for that, like

1) Its Gautam Menon's movie

2) Its the 2nd last movie of newly wedded Jo.

3) It showcases Sarath Kumar in a suit and tie contrary to his Nattamai/Gounder outlook.

4) It has excellent music by Harris.

5) Once-upon-a-time teen heartthrob Milind Soman makes his tamil debut

6) New girl Andrea joins the latest bandwagon of Heroine Exports to Kollywood...

By now those of you who have seen its trailer or have read rediff.com's making of the movie would have realised that its a scene-by-scene copy of "Derailed"! Wonder why the director/makers of the movie call it a Original Story Flick???

Guess they should call it- Pachchai Kili Copy Charam...

Big Bashing...

Over the past few days the newspapers and media are all splashed with the racist remarks on Shilpa Shetty by some participants of the Big Brother. Though its really sad that people in the world still echo and carry on such harsh sentiments, I really wonder whether all this was needed in the first place. Why the hell did Shilpa Shetty join a crap reality show like Big Brother? Its very obvious that she got carried away with the money offered to her. Afterall I remember reading her interview long time back that she came to films to accumulate enough for her dowry. Poor dame! I hope she earned enough by acting in Skin Shows in the name of movies.

Our government and members of parliament dont have any other job other issuing press statements about it. Did Shilpa Shetty ask them permission in the first place to participate in such a thing? Why is she seeking govt and media intervention for this? Dont they realise actors and gimmicks go hand in hand?

Adding to this agony theres something called Big Boss(desi version of Big Brother) happening in India where the likes of Rakhi Sawant, Kashmira Shan(I wonder whether they have this criteria of choosing Cheap Trick Women for these shows)are participating.

Big Brother, Big Boss...the list seem endless...All these people need is a Big Bashing!!!

Pallavi, Anupallavi and Charanam...

I have been listening to some new tamil songs lately. Few of them are really good like "Chithiraiyil Yenna Varum", "Atrai Thingal" from Sivappadhigaram, "Paartha Mudhal Naale", "Karka Karka", "Vennilave" from VV, "Yedho Ninaikkiren" from Thalainagaram. I think thanks to new lyricists on the block like Thamarai(kudos to her for Vaseegara), Na Muthukumar, Pa Vijay, things are really good on the song scene these days. Ofcourse Vairamuthu and Vaali churn out good numbers time to time...

Generally all these songs have a pallavi and 2 charanams. I wondered whether they compose songs with a pallavi, anupallavi and a charanam these days. Then I wondered whether there were a handful in the past few years...

All I could think of is just this number - "Kanmani Anbodu Kaathalan" from Guna...though the charanam rhymes similar to that of the pallavi stanza.
